If you
are in an abusive relationship or know somebody who is, Break the Silence
because we can help you today. You do not have to do this alone. We are
a full service shelter and a link to the services we provide can be found
to the left. You don't have to do this alone.
We can help in all
cases of domestic violence, sexual assault and Elder abuse. We do not
discriminate based on color, national origin, disability, gender, religion,
age, economic status or sexual orientation when offering services to a
victim. There are provisions for clients (victims) with disabilities that
include a bathroom and bedrooms with appropriate equipment. The shelter
has the necessary ramps, walkways and doors to accommodate wheelchairs.
Our service areas are Guadalupe, Gonzales, Karnes and Wilson counties
located in South central Texas. If you are outside our area you can still

Organizational Goals
1. To end violence against women, children and families
2. Meeting the basic physical needs of victims and their children such
as safety, shelter,
food, clothing, personal items, medical needs and other support, services
and referrals
3. Advocacy in the criminal justice system.
4. Increase knowledge of family violence by presentations and training
to communities in our service area.
5. To provide resources to help victims become self-sufficient (self-advocacy)
and to increase victims knowledge of the dynamics of violence by informing
them of different choices that can change behavioral patterns.

We need your help. GVFVS is currently seeking volunteers to work in a multitude of positions and roles. Contact Linda A. for details.
GVFVS is looking for individuals and groups to adopt a room, or two. Bedrooms, the kitchen and living room continually need updating due to the high volume of traffic the shelter recieves. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator for details.
GVFVS is upgrading and rennovating the shelter after years of use and needs your help. Monetary, material and labor donations are greately appreciated.
